Privacy Policy
Effective date: 1 January 2025 · Last updated: 1 January 2025
CareAI Private Limited, registered in India
At Chinni, we handle information about your family — your parents, their health, their daily lives. We take that seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Who we are
Chinni is a product of CareAI Private Limited, a company registered in India. Our registered office address will be updated here once incorporation is complete. You can reach us at hello@chinni.care.
2. What information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Registration information: Your name, email address, and WhatsApp number when you join our waitlist or sign up for the service.
- Parent contact details: The name and WhatsApp number of the parent or family member you enrol with Chinni.
- Conversation data: The content of WhatsApp messages exchanged between your parent and Chinni (Thread 1) and between you and Chinni (Thread 2). We do not and cannot access your personal WhatsApp conversations with your parent (Thread 3).
- Health-adjacent information: Medication names and schedules, doctor appointments, and wellness check-in responses shared voluntarily through Chinni conversations.
- Usage data: How and when the service is used, response times, and interaction patterns, used only for improving the product.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect only to:
- Provide the Chinni service — daily check-ins, reminders, task handling, and digests
- Send you updates about your parent's wellbeing and activity through Thread 2
- Improve the accuracy, tone, and helpfulness of Chinni's responses
- Contact you about your waitlist status or service updates
- Comply with legal obligations under Indian law
We do not use your data to train general AI models shared outside CareAI. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.
4. Legal basis for processing (DPDP Act 2023)
We process your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Our legal bases are:
- Consent: You give explicit consent when you sign up for Chinni and when you enrol a parent's number.
- Legitimate interest: For improving service quality and preventing misuse, where this does not override your rights.
- Legal obligation: Where required by Indian law.
Where we process sensitive personal data (health-adjacent information such as medication details), we obtain explicit, specific consent.
5. Data sharing
We share data only with:
- WhatsApp / Meta: Conversations are delivered through WhatsApp Business API. Meta's own privacy policy governs the transmission layer.
- AI model providers: Conversation data may be processed by AI model APIs to generate Chinni's responses. These providers are bound by data processing agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own model training.
- Cloud infrastructure providers: Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure within India or in jurisdictions that meet adequacy requirements under Indian law.
We do not share your data with any other third parties. We never sell data.
6. Data retention
We retain conversation data for 12 months from the date of each message, after which it is deleted. Account data is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 90 days after cancellation. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
7. Data security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Access to conversation data is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis. We conduct regular security reviews. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours as required by applicable law.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@chinni.care. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's data
Chinni is designed for use by adults managing care for elderly parents. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a minor's data has been submitted, please contact us immediately.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves or as legal requirements change. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the service at least 14 days before they take effect.
